ON an unusually warm sunny day, United got the First Division game underway.

In the second minute Maitland made a good run down the right, Donald made a tackle which appeared to go for a corner but the referee awarded a goal kick. Good play betwe
en Maitland and Forsyth created space for Maitland to provide a cross which was headed for a corner by Dines. The corner went across goal to Young, his cross was headed wide by Cadger.

In the 12th minute a first time volley from Maitland drew a fine diving save from Willox. A shot from K. Rennie was easily dealt with by Horne. A minute later a shot from the edge of the box from Gray went over. United should have gone in front after 21 minutes, Maitland made space and squared into the area and with an open goal, Yule managed to lift his shot over.

A corner played in was met by McGuinness but his header went just wide. A long ball out of defence went through to Cadger but he hurried his shot and dragged it wide of target. A rare attack from Glens ended with Horne collecting a shot from Winton.

In the first minute of the half a free kick played in found Sangbarani but Horne closed him down and made the save. A shot from Winton was watched by Horne as it flashed past his post. A cross-cum-shot by Morrice was taken by Horne on his line.

In the 59th minute a shocking two footed tackle by Leslie on Graham resulted in the referee producing a straight red card.

A quick break out of defence saw Forsyth pick out Yule but he mis-controlled and the ball was cleared. A cross from Forsyth was then taken off the head of Maitland. With 73 minutes on the clock a free kick from Shinnie was met by Young, but his early flick went just over.
A minute later a free kick from Burrows was taken by Willox as it headed for the top corner of the net.

United were pressing for the winner and a cross in from Forsyth was met by Maitland but he was unable to keep the shot down and the ball flew over. With ten minutes left Thoirs played in Winton who fired over.

After a spell of Formartine pressure, Glens broke out and Kennedy found himself with only Horne to beat but the keeper stood firm and turned the shot for a corner. Neither team could break the deadlock and the game ended even.
